A grounded, human approach to caring for ourselves while caring for the world
Hello, I’m Jem.
For much of my life, I’ve been working in the field of health and wellbeing — supporting people to feel more balanced, resilient, and at ease in themselves. Over the past 37 years, this work has taken many forms, but the heart of it has always been the same: helping people live and work in ways that are healthier, kinder, and more sustainable.
In more recent years, my path led me into the world of environmental and climate action. I worked on a number of climate change response projects and experienced first-hand both the meaning of this work — and the emotional and physical strain that can come with it.
Like many people in this space, I found myself navigating periods of overwhelm and burnout, alongside a deep care for the planet and a strong desire to contribute positively.
These experiences shaped my work profoundly.
"After decades working in health and wellbeing, and years inside climate change response, I saw how easily commitment to the world can come at the expense of personal sustainability. Balanced Path exists to address that gap.".
I believe deeply that caring for the world and caring for ourselves are not separate things.
If we want to respond to the challenges facing our planet with clarity, creativity, and long-term effectiveness, we need ways of working that support our physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing — not erode it.
My work is grounded in this understanding. I support environmental and social changemakers to stay well, resilient, and hopeful, so they can continue contributing in ways that are aligned, sustainable, and true to them.
There is no expectation here to push harder, do more, or sacrifice yourself for the cause. Instead, we focus on building inner resources, self-awareness, and resilience — so that your care for the world can be expressed over the long term.
My approach is calm, grounded, and practical.
I offer support that is:
Kind and non-judgemental — meeting you where you are
Strengths-based — building on what’s already there
Reflective and practical — space to think, feel, and take gentle action
Rooted in long-term sustainability — not short-term urgency
Inspiring and enabling the shift to a state of active hope and optimism
Whether through courses or one-to-one coaching, my intention is to create a sense of being supported and understood — a quiet outbreath that reminds you that you’re not alone, and that another way is possible.
You don’t need to exhaust yourself to make a difference. Your wellbeing, self-awareness, and resilience are an essential part of the solution — not a distraction from it.
